Stephen Thomas Nash, Sr., age 72, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas and was interred on November 2, 2015 in Coker Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Tommy was born on October 7, 1943 in Hearne, Texas to John Cleveland Nash, Jr., and Ora Dell Cochran Nash. He grew up in Calvert, Texas, which held a special place in his heart throughout his life. He followed in his father’s footsteps as the President of the Nash- Davis-Campbell Reunion before handing it over to his cousin, Weldon Nash Jr. The reunion first started under the Walnut tree on the John Cleveland Nash Sr. farm in Calvert, Texas. While the farm left the family many years ago, the reunion has continued on and recently celebrated 75 years. Only two days before his death Tommy returned to Calvert with his  brother, Johnny, to relive memories and plant a commemorative walnut tree in the Calvert cemetery near the family plots. Notorious for his bad jokes and puns, Tommy was a remarkable and caring person who was able to connect with a variety of people. He prepared  his children to venture through life with an optimistic attitude and to always “use their head” in difficult situations. And while his absence will be apparent at family gatherings, his legacy will live on through his family and the people he loved. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Irene Coe. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Ida Ashley and husband John, Stephen Nash, Jr. and wife Katherine, and, Sally Vail and husband Ross; grandchildren in order of age, Jackson Vail, Colin Vail, Garrett Ashley, Aaron Ashley, Lilly Nash and Thomas Nash; brother Lt. Col. John Cleveland Nash, III USAF (Ret) and his wife Patricia.
