Sibyl “Joan” Gandy

Services for Mrs. Sibyl “Joan” Gandy, age 87, of Lindale, were scheduled for 4:00p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Rudd officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Sylvan Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale. Mrs. Gandy died on Thursday, July 9, 2015 in the Hospice Homeplace in Tyler. She was born on October 31, 1927 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Samuel Erna and Nettie Moody Swain and was formerly of Waco, Houston, and Canyon Lake before moving to Lindale. Mrs. Gandy was currently a member of the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church and was a 1949 graduate of Baylor University. She was a secretary for the Humble Oil and Refinery Company and part owner of the Action Cleaning Equipment Company with her husband, JD Gandy who preceded her in death on October 15, 2012. She was a very loving and witty friend, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all. She is survived by: Two Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Madalyn Gandy Sykes and husband, Bill of Houston; Melanie Gaye Roberts and husband, Paul of Garden Valley; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Joe Gandy and wife, Julie of Houston; Sister: Winona Marler of Corpus Christi; 9 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren Pallbearers were: Jeremy Wetherell, Andy Wetherell, Ben Roberts, Heath Koonce, David Gandy, and Joshua Gandy. The family received friends from 2:00p.m. until 4:00p.m., service time on Saturday at the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church.
