Hal Baylor Carrington

Hal Baylor Carrington was born in Marquez, TX on April 4, 1924. He was the second son of Royle and Addie Baylor Carrington. He was a 1942 graduate of Marquez High School where he was a fighting Yellowjacket. It was during his freshman year of college at Baylor University, he made a decision that would forever define who he was. He enlisted in the army and became a staff sergeant in the air corps in World War II, stripping the Nazis of their ar resources in the months after the Normandy invasion. He flew high above Germany in the top turret of a B-26 bomber- the “widow-maker.” After V-day he spent some time in San Antonio, and in 1946 he made a decision that would change his life forever. He became an Aggie. He received his degree in Agriculture education in 1949. But all of his accomplishments did not compare to a very special girl who stole his heart back in his
early days in Marquez, TX. She was a dark headed fireball across the river in Seale, named Genice Neyland. Their love would last nearly 7 decades. Majority of their time was spent
in Hearne, TX where they enjoyed friends, family, and Aggie games. He retired after 25 years from Star Engraving selling class rings to juniors from I45 to midland. He was a Hearne
city councilman from 1976-85 and served as mayor of Hearne from 1985-87. He became an active member of the Hearne Lions Club in 1976. He was also an A&M Century Club member since 1976. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy life with his soul mate. They were seldom seen apart; unless it was coffee time at Brookshire’s or Bridge time. In 1971, they joined their best friends Nick and Billie Turnham on a 15 year road trip where they made every Aggie game from College Station to Hawaii to New York. They defined true Aggie Fans. Their love and support for Texas A&M was just another aspect of their life where their love for each other grew even deeper. It was this love that brought Baylor home on Thursday; home to his soul mate. She had waited long enough. We will forever carry their love with us.
