Juana Lopez Sosa, 91, of Calvert, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Juana was born in Wilder, Texas May 16, 1922 to Tomas Lopez and Rosa Garcia Lopez. She was a homemaker.
A visitation was held Wednesday, March 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary immediately following, both at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, March 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. Jose Cemetery in Hearne. Services were officiated by Father David Liebham. Pallbearers were Tony Sosa Jr., Paul Sosa, Henry Luna III, Fernando Sosa, Hilario Sosa III, and Steven Luna. Honorary Pallbearers were Ricky Contreras and Albert Vela.
Mrs. Sosa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hilario Sosa Sr.; a son, Tony Sosa Sr.; daughters, Dominga Mirmontez and Eulalia Heison; brothers, Alvino, Juaquin, Nasario; and a sister, Maria.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Hilario Jr. and Rosalinda Sosa of Waco; daughters and sons-in-law, Soledad and Ignacio Ibarra of Calvert; Mary and Richard Martinez of Bryan; Paula and Richard Casares of Bryan; Josephine and George Mendosa of Pasadena; daughter-in-law, Reyes Sosa of Calvert; 33 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.
Arrangements were entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.
