
Seth Duncan McCormick, age 87, of Franklin, Texas, passed away at home in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, September 24, 2015, with family. Seth, also known as Sonny, was born in Robertson County in Franklin, Texas on June 26, 1928 to Clyde B. and Louise D. McCormick. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1950, he started teaching at Blinn Jr. College, in Brenham, Texas. He was drafted into the United States Army shortly after that and served honorably until he finished his time. He then returned to teaching at Blinn Jr. College, in Brenham, Texas, where he taught for another thirty plus years and retired. After retirement, he returned to Franklin, where he did a lot of work helping others. He worked with the Feed the Children organization out of Oklahoma, traveling overseas and fitting children with glasses. After leaving Feed the Children, he helped to take care of his father and mother in Franklin, Texas. He also was known for volunteering his time at the Franklin Nursing home, giving haircuts to residents. He served as the President of the East Boone Prairie Cemetery for many years. He mowed and made improvements, such as the beautiful ironwork arches at the entrance to the cemetery until his health made it too difficult for him to continue. He will be missed. Seth is preceded in death by his father; Clyde B. McCormick; his mother, Louise D. McCormick; and his sister-in-law, Irma T. McCormick. He is survived by his brother; Kenneth C. McCormick, of Houston, Texas; a nephew, Kenneth C. McCormick, Jr., of Alaska; a niece, Melissa McCormick Dunne and her husband, Frank L Dunne, Jr.; great nephews and niece; Matthew F. Dunne and wife, Christina, Zachary K. Dunne and wife, Amanda, and Janet M. Dunne Croy and husband, Dylan. Also, survived by three great, great nieces; Mattison F. Dunne, Kinley A. Dunne and McKenna L. Dunne. Graveside Services will be at East Boone Prairie Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3 with Pastor Freddie Burden of the New Baden Baptist Church presiding over the service. Visitation will follow the service, with family, at the McCormick home, at 901 Glass Street, in Franklin, Texas.
