
Coach Ralph Edward Lymas, 57, of Luling, Texas passed away Monday, August 31, 2015. Coach Lymas was born in Hastings, Florida on January 25, 1958, to Damon Leon Smith and Lois Mae Lymas. He graduated from Hasting High School in 1976, and attended St. Edward’s University in Austin from1977 through 1980. He earned his a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education/History, with Secondary Education Certification. He began his teaching and coaching career in December, 1980. Helping with summer coaching, clinics, he was also a teacher/coach at Midland Lee, Presidio, Mineola, and Karnack. He held the Athletic Director and Head Coach position in Coldspring and Hearne. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to many. He enjoyed being around children, and was always the best example to them he could be. He also loved to fish. A visitation was held Friday, September 4 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., in the Luling High School Gymnasium. Services for Coach Lymas were held at the Luling High School Gymnasium at 10:00a.m.Saturday, September 5 with Rev. W.D. Harris officiating. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 7, in St. John’s Cemetery in Rio Grande City. Coach Lymas is survived by his wife, ereyda Guerrero, who he married in Austin, March 24, 1980. He is also survived by his daughters, Monica Lymas and Ratrovius Simon, and Re’Nada Lymas, all of Luling and Danielle Lymas and Rashawn Kakers of Granger; two grandchildren; Jade Lymas and RaYannah Akers; his sisters; Feliecia Milton, of Gainesville, Florida, and Rhonda Whitley of El Paso; and his brother; Alvin Lymas of Cross City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents to Damon Leon Smith and Lois Mae Lymas. Serving as pallbearers were Rashawn Akers, Shaft Cubit, Robert Magallanez, Jose Sanchez, Desmond Cubit, Dazamen Wright, Tucker Riley, Dante Green, Roger Miles, and Kaylon Coe Arrangements were under the direction of O’Bannon Funeral Home, Inc.
