Jesse Daniel Brewer was born to Johnny Rondal Brewer and Viola Davis Brewer in Elliot, Texas on August 25, 1929. After living a long and active life, he died at the age of 84 in Scott and White Hospital in College Station. He was known by his family and friends as Dan or Poppa. A lifelong resident of Robertson County, Dan graduated from Franklin High School in 1948, after which he went on to attend Durham Business School. His education prepared him for his service in the United States Army as a Clerk in the Korean War, and also for his career afterwards when he owned and managed his own Ford Dealership. After leaving the car business, Dan went on to work as the chief appraiser for the Robertson County Appraisal District until he retired at the age of 80. After receiving the Gospel of Jesus at a young age, Dan was baptized in Mudd Creek in Elliot Texas, where he became a member of the local Baptist Church. His favorite hobby was following sports, particularly the Houston Oilers who he continued to loyally support even after the franchise moved to Tennessee. The sports teams he most passionately followed though were his kids’ and grandkids’ local high school teams. Dan attended every game home and away, even as recently as this track season where he found a way to attend every meet in which his grandsons competed until he was admitted into the hospital. Dan is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Curtis. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Carolynda Brewer; daughter and son-in-law Mindy and Gary Turner; son and daughterin- law Michael (Duba) and Jeanne Brewer; sister Marie Buhman; brother and sister-in-law Rondal and Jean Brewer; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Raymond Theiss; brother and sister-in-law Glen and Edwina Brewer; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
